A health care aide or HCA is a person who helps to care for people who need help. They can care for the elderly, people with physical disabilities, or those who are recovering from surgeries or illnesses. Health care aides often work in hospitals, long-term care homes, or even in individual residences. As the population ages, home health care aides are needed more and more.

To become a health care aide you will require a background in health care, such as a Health Care Aide Vocational School Diploma, which takes only a few months. You will learn first aid, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology, as well as how to care for an aging population.

In just a few months you can become a health care aide and have a rewarding career taking care of people. According to PayScale, the average salary range for a health care aide is between $17,707 and 24,695.
