What Is an Iridologist?

Sep 30, 2010

Iridology is a type of alternative medicine that involves the study of the iris in order to identify changes or weak areas of the body. An iridologist is trained to closely examine a patient's iris for marks and color changes which help to identify the parts of the body that need assistance. By using iridology one can identify illnesses that have not yet shown any symptoms, and help people solve their health issues.

Although this is an ancient technique, there is not much in the way of formal education when it comes to iridology. However, there are online courses, CD-ROMs, and books. Generally most people who want to become iridologists combine their training with becoming a naturopath doctor.

Iridologists who work independently can earn $20,000 to $30,000 per year; however, those who work in conjunction with other health practitioners can earn $80,000 or more per year.
