Professional Massage Training Program
The Professional Massage Training course requires 637 hours of instruction in the theory and practice of therapeutic massage and similar disciplines, and can be completed in approximately seven months for the day program and 13 months for the evening program. Some subjects that are addressed are Human Anatomy & Physiology. The program teaches all the skills necessary to become a successful Massage Therapist. You will be able to enter the job field in a variety of settings. They may include: spas, salons, medial environments, fitness environments, wellness centers, and private practices.
Program Objectives:
To impart skills to students that will allow them to serve their communities, while also leading students towards licensure as a Massage Therapist after completing the National Certification Examination. After passing the certification exam, graduates are prepared for entry-level positions as licensed massage therapists.
After they graduate, they students should:
- Be knowledgeable in the performance of Swedish massage
- Have a high level of understanding in human anatomy and physiology
- Be familiar with allied modalities currently being practiced
- Posses a working knowledge of common pathologies
- Be able to distinguish between disorders that can be treated with massage and those that need to be referred
- Have the self-assurance to document massage treatments for practice management and insurance
