MASSAGE THERAPY PROGRAM

Educational Objective

Students will be prepared with the necessary entry-level professional, business, and technical skills for competency, confidence, and achievement in body work and massage therapy, after meeting the objective of the massage therapy program educational. This means that they will have to successfully complete 750 classroom, lab, and clinical instruction hours.

Related areas of Human Sciences, Massage Techniques, Adjunct Body Work Modalities, Professional Standards and Clinical Practices, for which students are evaluated. Sincere and practical concern for everyone, as well as a commitment to serve others with dignity, will be ingrained in each student. In addition, while encouraging students' nurturing side, massage therapy training will teach them to balance this and the real life need to make a living from their calling.

Students will graduate with a certificate in massage therapy. They will also be trained and prepared to take the National Certification examination for therapeutic massage and body work.

Those who receive their certificate will be eligible to work in a variety of practices, including chiropractic offices, wellness and health centers, spas and resorts, pain management and massage therapy establishments, physical therapy practices, and many other offices.

Program Length:

The daytime program lasts for a period of 30 weeks, during which time, students attend classes for five hours a day, Monday through Friday, completing six 125-hour modules. Each Monday through Thursday evening, course work is delivered in 4 1/2 hour sessions, for a total of six modules of 125 hours each. Evening courses last for 42 weeks.

Medical Assistant Program

The Medical Assistant Program, also known as medical assisting, is a health profession with a focus on multitasking wherein practitioners work primarily in an ambulatory settings like clinics and medical offices. MAs perform as part of a team of health providers and conduct administrative and lab techniques. Some of the things that medical assistants will be required to perform may include: taking vital signs, giving injections, performing EKGs, and assisting in certain medical situations. They also need to possess a variety of front office skills, including, but not limited to: keyboarding, transcription, document handling, getting information from patients, filing insurance claims, bookkeeping, and other financial matters.

Once students complete the course of study, they will be able to enter the medical assisting field in an entry-level capacity, doing medical procedures, lab work, and office procedures described earlier.

The Medical Assistant Program is comprised of 5 150-hour modules consisting of classroom and lab work, as well as a 160-hour externship. Student performance is evaluated on a variety of professional and performance measures. Skills such as typing, word processing, and document transcription are all measured to eliminate errors and build speed.

The program enables a graduate to acquire a certificate after completion and thereafter he will be eligible to take up the Certified Medical Assistant examination offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

Career Opportunities

Students will be eligible for careers in medical assistance, which is growing as one of the most important aspects of the health care team. Medical assistants, more often referred to as allied health practitioners, are needed in a variety of environments, including doctors' offices, clinics, emergency care facilities, and more. Given their broad competencies in both front and back office procedures, medical assistants are equipped to tackle the diverse challenges associated with each patient visit.

Program Length

The program can be totally completed in 34 weeks. The evening program duration is 46 weeks.

Medical Office Administrator Program

Students enrolled in the Medical Office Administration Program will be equipped with the skills necessary to function properly in both medical and dental office administration environments. Among the medical and dental office administration proficiencies are record and bookkeeping, billing, patient records, transcription, setting appointments, correspondence, and more. Claims processors assess benefits needed to settle claims for worker policies.

Once they complete the course satisfactorily, pupils are eligible to take on entry-level jobs in the medical field as assistants, receptionists, and billing and insurance processors.

The program has two key components: a series of five - 150 hour classroom and lab modules and a 160 hour externship. Pupils are assessed in every aspect of professional and practical proficiencies. Keyboarding, transcription, documents, and computerized billing are generally evaluated on both processing speed and number of errors.

A certificate will be awarded to those graduates that complete the program.

Career Opportunities

Skilled medical office staffs perform in private practices, recordkeeping and different hospital areas. Students who graduate from the program may also choose to work for other licensed professionals as well, including dentists, eye doctors, chiropractors, or podiatrists.

Program Length

The actual duration of the daytime program runs for a period of thirty four weeks where as the evening program is scheduled to run for a duration of forty six weeks. Breaks for summer and holidays will lengthen the total time it takes to complete the course.

Medical Billing/Coding Program

The fields of Medical Billing and Health Claims Examining plays an important role, with increasing need, in the health industry and the associated insurance industry.

Doctors, Hospitals, government departments, and insurance companies use the information on insurance claims forms that have been completed and submitted by medical billers and coders; making their role significant. Accurate coding, completion and submission of a variety of insurance claim forms, creating patient statements and office accounting reports are all duties that a medical biller/coder will typically be required to complete. Following correct medical billing practices and HIPPA compliance guidelines will result in maximum reimbursements for the doctors and health care providers.

The Medical Billing/Coding Program is divided into six learning modules; each one provides 125 hours of instruction. The first five modules combine classroom and computer lab instruction, and the program concludes with an externship experience. Students will gain training in the field of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, office procedures, methods of bookkeeping, applications of medical theory and practice, diagnostic and coding methods, and simulated office practices on computers. After successful completion, students are qualified for entry level positions as medical billers and coders.

Students become eligible to assume entry-level position as medical billers/coders performing the procedures outlined above after the successful completion of the training.

When the program is completed students will graduate and receive a certificate.

Career Opportunities

Currently, one of the fastest growing opportunities for employment is in the health industry, and the related insurance industry. Medical Billers/Coders may find jobs in physician's offices, hospitals, clinics, medical billing/clearing houses and insurance firms.

Program Length

The day program is 25 hours a week for 29 weeks. The evening program meets 4.5 hours a night, 4 times a week for a duration of 38 weeks. The programs completion time is extended due to holidays and summer breaks.

Dental Assistant Program

The goal of the Dental Assistant Program is to help students to develop skills and exhibit proficiency in a combination of dental office and laboratory processes. Proper Procedures and lab techniques may be as follows but not limited to: preliminary exams, assisting in four and six handed procedures, charting, scheduling and making appointments, keeping accurate records, sterilizing equipment and recording inventory. The qualified assistant will perform many functions, including intraoral procedures under the supervision of the dentist. A credentialed radiology assistant can take x-rays.

Graduating from the program opens a variety of job opportunities for the student. Graduates will be able to gain entry-level employment as a dental assistant in dental offices and clinics, where they will be able to utilize their skills to conduct the various laboratory techniques and office procedures listed previously.

A total of 750 hours of classroom, clinical, and lab instruction, and a 160 hour externship program are included in the Dental Assistant Program. Relevant spelling, terminology, theory and performance skills comprise some of the areas where students will be evaluated in their professional development.

Graduates of the program receive a completion certificate enabling them to take the certification test offered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and the state of New Jersey Examination for Dental Radiologic Technology. At this stage, students will have completed their Expanded Functions training and will have passed the exam in Law and Dentistry required by the New Jersey State Board of Dentistry. The completion of these two requirements entitles students to acrreditation as an RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) following on from DANB certification.

Dental Assistants are offered career opportunities in a variety of settings, including but not limited to: dentists offices, insurance companies, hospitals, nursing homes, school dental clinics, public and private health facilities. Oral surgery, endodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, pedodontics as well as general practices are some examples of specialties.

Program Length

It only takes a short thirty-four weeks to complete our daytime program. It takes forty-six weeks to complete the evening program. Completion time will be longer when you add in holidays and summer breaks.
