In a nutshell, here is what Biomedical Technicians do:

“They take care of equipment and instruments used in the healthcare industry. Biomed techs are responsible for inspecting and installing equipment used by healthcare professionals for researching, monitoring, diagnosing, and treating illnesses.  They also repair, calibrate, and safety test equipment in order to ensure proper function and safety for both the operator and the patient. They consult with staff to make sure that all equipment is functioning properly, and may demonstrate the proper use of equipment to the staff upon installation. They may also modify or develop devices used in healthcare.” - From: Biomedical Technologist

As with other careers in the health care profession, the job outlook is good and the growth is expected to be faster than average when compared to other industries.  The pay is considered to be above average and the high demand benefits folks who have completed the appropriate training for the field.
