I know that when I go to the Dentist, it seems like I have more interaction with the Dental Assistant than I do with my Dentist. I make conversation with the assistant as they go about the business of preparing all of the instruments and supplies for the dental procedures.
A Dental Assistant is the friendly face that acts as a catalyst in the dental office. They need to have the ability to remain organized and focused while assisting in complicated medical procedures. The Dental Assistant also needs great people skills in order to help nervous dental patients feel calm and at ease. With some dental patients this is a tall order indeed.
Working in a dental office requires resilience and the ability to handle activity that is fast paced and dynamic. A busy practice will challenge the Dental Assitant’s ability to multi-task and keep things moving smoothly. As well, good dental assisting skills are very much appreciated by the practicing Dentists and patients alike, helping to secure their position as a valued member of the health care team.
All of these are great reasons to consider a career as a Dental Assistant. To find out more, contact any of our high quality schools by following the links on the left side of this page.
