Medical Assistant is a growing and dynamic field full of opportunity for those students willing and able to work with other professionals in the treatment, care, and education of patients. The Medical Assistant program concludes with a six-week externship to a medical facility, enabling the student to receive on-the-job training and experience.
Employment of medical assistants is expected to grow much faster than average for all occupations through the year 2014 as the health care industry expands because of technological advances in medicine and the growth and aging of the population. For the Medical Billing Program:
If you like the idea of helping people in a healthcare setting but are not comfortable assisting with examinations or medical procedures, then maybe Medical Billing & Coding is for you. This is one of the few health occupations in which there is little or no direct contact with patients - however, accuracy is essential. At YTI Career Institute, students learn and practice billing and coding rules and regulations using real-world cases taken from across a broad spectrum of healthcare specialists. In just 12 months, graduates will be prepared to succeed as a medical biller, medical coder or medical receptionist!
Technicians with a strong background in medical coding will be in particularly high demand. Changing government regulations and the growth of managed care have increased the amount of paperwork involved in filing insurance claims. Additionally, health care facilities are having difficulty attracting qualified workers, primarily because of the lack of both formal training programs and sufficient resources to provide on-the-job training for coders. Job opportunities may be especially good for coders employed through temporary help agencies or by professional services firms.
