FACILITIES

The Blue Cliff College campuses contain classrooms for lecture, technique, computer training and labs, in addition to administrative offices and lounge areas. Each program and class is provided with the necessary equipment. A few among the multitude of equipment provided are message tables and chairs, hydrocollators, skeletons, charts, message tools, TV/VCR's, ECG machines, overhead projectors, microscopes, crime-scene equipment, etc., and these may vary with campus and programs offered.

ACCREDITATIONS

Blue Cliff College is considered to be a college with accreditations obtained from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology. The Louisiana Board of Regents provides the college's license in the State of Louisiana. The State of Mississippi Commission on Proprietary School and College Registration licenses our Gulfport campus in Mississippi. Thanks to Department of Education Approval, Title IV Federal Aid is available to qualified applicants in selected programs at the Mississippi and Louisiana Campuses of Blue Cliff College. Accreditations and approvals may vary between locations.

The goal of the Financial Aid Department is to help all of our students get the aid they need to attend school. We help students in many ways, whether with cash, loans or grants. Students who meet the qualification standards are eligible to receive financial aid.

Students may also qualify to have a portion of their tuition financed by Blue Cliff College. The particulars of the financial plans offered will depend on the length of the educational program selected and how much the student is able to pay initially.

Federal Pell Grant

Federal Pell Grants are among the types of federal financial aid programs that Blue Cliff College participates in. After students have filled out the application for FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) they should turn it into the Financial Aid Office at the College.

Federal Stafford Student Loan (subsidized)

This loan is only available to students who are participating in school at least half time. Till six months after the student's graduation or withdrawal from the College, neither principle nor the interest amount is to be paid. The interest rate for this loan is variable and is capped at 8.25 percent. Demonstrated need must be proven through the completion of a need analysis, and students must uphold acceptable academic progress. Students have to fill out a FAFSA to apply and should send the application to the Financial Aid Office at the College.

Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Student Loans

Students who do not qualify for subsidized student loans may be able to obtain one of these loans. In order to be eligible, students must file the FAFSA. The interest rate varies with a cap at 8.25%. Students may pay interest in college or defer it until later.

Federal Parent Plus Loan

The Federal Parent Plus Loan is offered to the parents of dependent students, and is a long-term loan with a variable interest rate capped at 9 percent. Payments will start 60 days after the last disbursement of the loan.

Federal Consolidation Loans

Students who have taken educational loans may apply for Federal Consolidation Loans after completion of graduation or withdrawal form the college. Information pertaining to Consolidation Loans will be given to students during the exit interview.

Massage Therapy Diploma

The Massage Therapy Diploma program provides the fundamentals in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology which form the foundation for training in advanced massage techniques. Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Sports Massage, Basic Shiatsu, and Supervised Clinical Practice are the hands-on techniques included. Upon completion of the diploma program, students are immediately prepared for entry level positions in the massage therapy industry.

Graduates from our program obtain a variety of jobs including private practice, athletic team massage therapist, massage therapist in a hospital, athletic club massage therapist, on-site massage therapist, massage therapist in a hair salon and/or spa assistant to physical therapists or chiropractors, and massage therapist on cruise ships.

Upon completion of the diploma program, graduates are qualified for massage therapy licensure or registry in both the states of Louisiana and Mississippi as well as being eligible to take the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Examination.

The minimum required contact hours for both states is actually less than included in our degree program. Blue Cliff College knows your life is busy, so we have a flexible schedule of classes offered both day and night. It normally takes nine (9) months to complete the day program, and fifteen (15) months to complete the evening program. As a supplement to this catalog, class schedules are also available (see ""Greeting"" letter). Upon successful completion of the required 53 quarter credits, a diploma is awarded.

Associates in Occupational Studies Degree Massage Therapy

The Associate in Occupational Studies Degree in Massage Therapy enhances the training offered in the diploma program. The associate degree program expands the scope of massage technique training, and general education through the additional courses provided, resulting in a well-rounded massage therapist who is also trained in management and communication. Our associate's degree program works to prepare the student for various entry-level positions in massage therapy and its related industries, as well as providing additional training for future managers of spas and independent business owners.

As a graduate of our programs, numerous job opportunities will be available to you, such as a therapist in a hospital, athletic club, hair salon, chiropractic assistant and even as a massage therapist on a cruise ship. The day program can usually be completed in 18 months, and the evening program in 27 months. To graduate and be awarded an Associate in Occupational Studies Degree in Massage Therapy, one must earn a total of 96 credits, including credits earned in a diploma program. At least the last 25% of the necessary 96 quarter credits must be done at Blue Cliff College.
