The Dental Assistant

Training is given to Dental Assistant students to perform chair side helping methods, procedures on patients, and office and laboratory related tasks under the direction and supervision of a licensed dentist.

The delivery of dental care offers many diverse responsibilities that students learn how to meet.

You will attain a full understanding of the basic dental sciences, a high level of aptitude in laboratory and clinical skills as well as thorough practical experience that will involve and refine specialized skills.

Dental Assisting Instruction:

Your Dental Assisting Class training studies include hands-on training in Dental Assisting, including:

• Dental Office Emergencies
• Dental Radiography
• Dental Specialities
• Operatory Dentistry
• Laboratory Procedures
• Dental Anatomy and Orthodontics
• Dental Assisting Externship

Students gain hands-on experience in a laboratory setting using major equipment such as amalgamators, dental units and chairs, model trimmers, oral evacuation equipment, oxygen tanks, personal computers, ultrasonic units and x-ray machines.

Training will be given to you in valuable clinical, radiographic, and administrative procedures, leading to career opportunities with dental offices, manufacturers of dental supply, dental departments of the hospitals, and insurance companies. Dental receptionists, dental insurance clerks, dental supply salespeople, and administrative assistants are included in the additional entry-level positions.

Dental Assisting Career Opportunities

Duties that are included are: Helping a dentist at chair side with basic procedures of dental; preparing materials for use by the dentist; cleaning and sterilizing instruments of dental; providing education to patients about good dental health; and performing preventive procedures are some of the duties of a Dental Assistant.
