Dental Assistant

You can learn how to assist in any dental office and in any situation through the Dental Assistant Program at Missouri College. You can take several classes that offer special training in many fields. Laboratory, clinical, and lecture components are all included in the core curriculum. The Dental Assistant program includes an externship portion with supervision experiences in a clinical atmosphere and completion of evaluations, logs and competencies. By the end of the training, students who have applied themselves to the educational requirements and taken advantage of the externship experience will feel competent and be qualified to work as dental assistants.

The Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association (ADA) accredits the Dental Assistant program at Missouri College. All graduates of the Dental Assistant program at Missouri College are eligible and it is recommended that they take the exam for certification offered by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Because it is recognized across the nation, this credential will most likely increase your job possibilities. You are eligible to take this exam when you graduate from an ADA-accredited dental assisting program. Missouri College has no control of the certification requirements for taking and passing this examination; outside agencies control certification requirements, and are subject to change by the agency without notice. Regardless of a students eligibility status at time of enrollment, Missouri College cannot and will not guarantee a graduate will be able to take this Certification Exam, at a specified time, if at all.
