Florida Career College

Started as Florida Programming and Educational Center, Inc., the school's initial classes began in September of 1982, in Miami, Florida. The college adopted the name "Florida Computer and Business School" in 1990. Throughout the past years, the school has expanded to include additional courses and programs to match the skills of students with the needs of the computer industry and business sectors.

The school morphed into a Microsoft IT Academy in 1999. In January of 2000, the school opened up a second campus in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The campus located in West Palm Beach opened its doors in September 2002. Lauderdale Lakes, the fifth campus, came into being in August, 2005. The Florida Commission for Independent Education gave the College collegiate status in 2002. The Allied Health Medical programs have achieved the credentials of the Commission for Independent Education.

The Clearwater and Brandon campus locations were once known as EduTech Centers. In July 2007, these were purchased and rechristened as Florida Career College.

The Diploma Program in Massage Therapy consists of 37 credits and takes 9 months to complete.

Within the field of natural health care, therapeutic massage is a fast-growing area. The Massage Therapist can decide to work in spas, physicians’ offices, chiropractic centers, and several different other places. Students will learn the various fundamentals of anatomy and physiology, massage techniques, modalities, pathology, joint movement, and a lot more.

Program Objectives

Graduates will possess a working knowledge of the theory and practice of massage which will include elements of Spa Therapy, Swedish Massage, Hydrotherapy and Asian Bodywork. The program is far more wide-reaching than just teaching massage skills. Students will also be taught not just the legal and ethical aspects of massage therapy, but also provided the skills needed for employment as well as human relation skills, health and safety practices, and CPR.

Medical Coding & Billing Specialist Program: Diploma Program

12 Months - 42 Credits

Medical Insurance Billing and Coding is a program of study course that includes medical documentation, assigning and sequencing diagnostic work involved, while treating patients. Medical Coding & Billing Specialists can find oppertunities to work in many health care facilities as qualified medical and billing specialists to prepare patient records and bills accurately. Students are prepared for entry-level employment as medical coding and billing specialists in hospitals, clinics, physician practice groups, surgery enters, long-term facilities, and home health care agencies by this program.

Program Objectives

The graduate will possess a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, human diseases, pharmacology, and basic medical coding and billing skills upon completion of this program. The program offers multiple options and courses, including medical documentation, assigning and sequencing diagnostics.

Medical Office Administration

Florida Career College has nine campuses in Florida cities, including Jacksonville, Brandon, Clearwater, Miami, West Palm Beach, and other Florida locations. Students can earn bachelor's degrees, associate's degrees, diplomas, and certifications to prepare for new careers. The Florida Career College mission is to provide career training for students, whether they excelled in high school or whether they weren’t star students. FCC also focuses on providing an easy way for students to start college even after being away from school for a while.

The programs at Florida Career College range from certifications and diplomas to bachelor's degree programs. Depending on the program requirements, students may complete the program in anywhere from 6 to 45 months. Diploma programs take an average of 6 to 9 months, while associate's degrees range from 21 to 24 months, and Bachelor's Degrees may take 45 months to complete; just under four years. Some programs offer both associate's degrees and bachelor's degrees, while other programs only offer one level of completion.

Students at Florida Career College can study a broad range of disciplines, including computer repair technician, cosmetology, health information management, and business administration. As a career-training school, Florida Career College works to teach students the skills that they need to pursue a specific career. The FCC curriculum includes hands-on learning, with modern technology integrated into the programs. Some programs prepare students for certification exams, such as the CCNA certification, Facial Specialist License, CPR, or Comp TIA A+.

Students who are interested in a Florida Career College education must have a personal interview with an Admissions Representative. Florida Career College takes high school graduates and students who have a GED, although students without a GED may be able to test out of this requirement by passing an ""Ability to Benefit"" exam administered at the campus of enrollment.
