Massage & Sports Therapy
The Massage Therapy program at Fremont College introduces students to the art and science of massage therapy through a broad-based curriculum along with providing opportunities to gain an understanding of how techniques of massage are employed to resolve specific conditions of the body. Through instruction of our well-rounded curriculum, you will develop specialized techniques of massage and gain “in-depth” educational skills that will increase your knowledge.
Nationally, alternative medicine and holistic therapies have gained renewed credibility and are now often seen as mainstream treatments for common afflictions. A full body massage can be used to relieve a variety of mental and physical ailments ranging from depression to sports injuries. Massage therapy may even benefit people who just need a little stress relief. Students are offered high demand massage skills and techniques in Fremont's massage therapy classes.
Sports & Rehabilitation Therapy focuses on theory and skills. Students will enhance their skills in sports massage through the program with introduction to elements such as new strokes, techniques, and methods (i.e. Pre-event, Inter-competition, & Post-event sports massage). Techniques to aid athletes in decreasing the risk of injury are among the additional skills students will learn. Students can expect to learn, define and explain terminology used in the athletic community to describe pathologies and injuries in the four Sports Therapy concentrated classes. They will also be prepared to recognize, assess and treat athletic related injuries within the scope of their practice while taking these classes. Students are taught about biomechanics, range of motion, and therapeutic exercises and methods used for rehabilitating active clients.
