Mission Statement

Illinois School of Health Careers is dedicated to providing high-quality educational and training opportunities to individuals desiring the knowledge and skills needed for entry-level employment in the health care or computer industries.

Objectives

Illinois School of Health Careers offers a learning environment that places emphasis on personal value, work ethics, human dignity, personal responsibility, and high achievement.

We pledge to:

  • Choose a faculty that is devoted and capable,
  • Constantly re-evaluate and upgrade our course offerings,
  • Provide a learning environment that has modern facilities and equipment.

History

In 1990, Illinois School of Health Careers (ISHC) was first created. ISHC, Inc. is a subsidiary of the company ForeFront Education Inc.; ForeFront acquired the Illinois School in July of 2003 and now wholly owns it.

ISHC has approval to operate by the Illinois State Board of Education (a member of CCA and AMTA), as well as being authorized to provide health education through the American Red Cross.

ISHC is recognized by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), and is listed nationally as a recognized accredited agency by the U.S. Department of Education.

Faculty

The faculty at Illinois School of Health Careers consists of professionals who are experts in their fields. Many are professionals in the health care field. The instructors at the Illinois School are experienced and excel in providing firsthand knowledge for our students.

Dental Assistant Training

The Dental diploma program provides individuals with all of the required skills and training they need to seek entry-level positions in the dental field.

You will be eligible to work as a dental assistant for a practicing dentist, orthodontist, oral surgeon or pediatric dentist.

You will develop valuable skills needed for any Dental Assistant, such as preparing patients for treatment, examining orthodontic appliances, taking impressions, as well as performing other dental procedures. An externship at a dental facility is added, in order to give you the real world confidence and experience you need to begin your new job.

Some courses of study may include but are not limited to:

  • Intro to Dental Assisting
  • Ethics
  • Head and Oral Cavity Structure
  • Anesthesia
  • Dental Equipment and Instruments
  • Dental Specialties
  • Tooth Restoration
  • Lab Procedures
  • Dental X-Rays
  • Office Procedures and Insurance
  • Externship
