Medical administration degrees in Maine prepare students for management and leadership positions within healthcare organizations and medical facilities. Medical administrators do not work with patients directly but perform business operations within the organization. Such business operations include implementing policies and procedures that increase productivity, profit, and patient care. Most medical administration programs are offered at the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels. Four years is required to complete a bachelor’s while a total of six years is standard to complete a master’s degree. Students should expect to take classes such as healthcare economics, healthcare finance, government funding and healthcare, medical organizational operations, public relations and marketing, and human resources management.
