Medical Coding and Billing Master Certificate Program
This program enables a student to persue a career in Medical Coding and Billing and to acquire the techniques offered in the program. The program enables the student to learn ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 Surgical and CPT-4 non-Surgical Coding procedures which enables him to prepare for the AAPC offered by American Academy of Professional Coders, so the student will gain certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Studnets will learn about Microsoft Office applications, and develop familiarity with Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Billing & Insurance, Medical Ethics and Law, Pharmacology and Industry standard ICD-9 and CPT-4 codes. An increasingly important role in working with medical records that you will learn deals with is the security and privacy of the medical records you maintain- HIPAA, or Heathcare Insurance, Portability & Accountability Act.
An Externship will follow when you complete your courses. This will give you the opportunity to gain valuable hands on experience, while working under the supervision of a doctor's office, clinic, or other healthcare facility. A student will be able to prepare for the AAPC with this program known as American Academy of Professional Coders which is a certification issued as CPC or Certified Professional Coder. You'll also prepare for the CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) and CCA (Certified Coding Associate) certifications offered by the American Health Information Management Association, or AHIMA. If you wish to pursue an advanced degree in Health Information Management, this program will help you build the necessary foundation.
Medical Coding Certificate Program
You will gain the skills required to follow a career in Medical Coding with the help of this program. A person is expected to learn non-surgical coding procedures such as ICD-9-CM, CPT-4 Surgical and CPT-4 which enables him to prepare for AAPC, a certification offered by American Academy of Professional Coders or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) In addition, you will become well prepared for three certifications: AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) and CCA (Certified Coding Associate). Students completing our Medical Coding program will possess the foundation needed to pursue an advanced degree in Health Information Management. You must have a minimum of 3 years recent experience in an Administrative Healthcare career or must have a Medical Administration Program certificate, if you are interested in this program.
