Medical assistant schools in Missouri offer two ways of preparing for the job of working along with doctors and nurses: associate’s degrees and diploma programs. Diploma programs can be completed relatively quickly and focus on the basics of this field, such as medical terminology, medical office procedure, record keeping, ethics, and some of the health sciences. An associate’s degree covers more detail, but it also takes longer to complete. Job openings for this field are expected to be very good, and certification is voluntary but a plus.
