Medical Assistant

What type of work will you be capable of performing?
The training prepares the student to act as an important person in the medical office. You'll be responsible for updating patient records, filling out reports, doing lab tests, diagnosing and handling treatment plans. Another responsibility is to ensure that all required data is electronically accessible and review records for completeness.
You may also be responsible for recording medical histories and vital signs, explaining treatments to the patient, preparing patients for exams, and being a physician's assistant.
What can you expect from our Medical Assistant curriculum?
- Ideas and practical uses in the basics of medical diagnostic techniques
- Study of the makeup of the human body and CPR certification
- Knowledge of basic clinical and lab practices
- Training of venipuncture, needles, electrocardiography (EKG), reading vital signs, and preparing for physical and specialty tests
- Administrative techniques for use in a healthcare setting
- A briefing on insurance coding and processing claims for medical insurance
- An externship taking place in a medical setting
What job choices are graduates considering?
When you graduate you will be able to gain employment as a Clinical Medical Assistant, an Administrative Medical Assistant, a Medical Secretary, a Medical Biller of Insurance, a Bookkeeper of Medical Records, or Clinical Assistant in such settings as:

Procedures for the Classroom
Every class is a standalone area of study and there are no prerequisite requirements. You can start the program at the commencement of any course and continue till you successfully complete all the courses.
Externship
Upon completion of the curriculum, you get the chance to be part of a 7-week extern position at a healthcare facility supervised by a preceptor/office staff. In this timeframe, you will rehearse the skills acquired in the classroom.
You will need to complete 256 hours, with an average of 5 eight-hour days per week for your externship.
