Medical assistants who graduate with an Occupational Associate of Applied Business Degree in Business Office Technology will be ready to work directly under or alongside a physician. With skills in administration you can look forward to working with scheduling, maintaining medical records, billing and coding for insurances claims. A variety of clinical you will perform as a Medical Assistant will include monitoring vital signs, prepping patients, drawing blood, or dispensing medication as instructed by the physician you will be working with.

The Associate Degree of Applied Business in Business Office Technology with an emphasis in Medical Assisting program is keyed toward providing students with the skills needed to work in conjunction with a physician.
Employment options include positions in the Medical Assistant at entry-level, pharmacy technician, a medical receptionist, a laboratory technician, processing insurance billing, phlebotomist, clinical aide, insurance claims agent, office manager, and other medical and clerical positions in the medical field. The training you receive in the areas of physical exams, EKG procedures, venipuncture, and urinalysis will be hands on and prepare you to work alongside physicians and other medical professionals. Among the skills you can expect to gain are word processing proficiency, pharmacology, public speaking skills, advanced computer knowledge, and detailed knowledge of medical office procedures.
