Phlebotomy Training in New Jersey

Phlebotomy training in New Jersey teaches students to properly draw blood used for transfusion and medical testing purposes. Phlebotomy used to be a skill taught to existing medical personnel but is now taught via short-term training programs lasting 2-6 months. Students who complete training are eligible to sit for the test administered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Some programs require training in HIV/AIDS, CPR and first-aid prior to being admitted. In addition to classroom training students are required to spend time working in medical facilities practicing their skills under the supervision of phlebotomists and other medical staff.
