Phlebotomy training in Washington generally takes place at career schools and community colleges. Most programs held in community colleges are two quarters in length. Classroom training occurs the first quarter, followed by supervised clinical training at a medical facility during the second quarter. Students who successfully complete phlebotomy training programs are deemed ready to sit for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists certification exam. Phlebotomy graduates who obtain full time positions can expect to make approximately $10 an hour to start and work their way up to an average salary of $25,000 per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
