Associate of Science

The Associate of Science degree program in Surgical Technology provides students the knowledge and technical skills they need to get entry-level jobs in this field. So this can be attained, curriculum for the surgical technology program includes general studies as well an specified instruction in the areas of surgery, anesthesiology, anatomy, and medical topics. Graduates are able to further grow professionally and to develop their leadership skills through their additional coursework in general education.

They are guided in their duties by surgeons, registered nurses and other surgical personnel. They get the operating room ready to be used by preparing surgical instruments and equipment and sterilize instruments while the operation is in progress. Surgical technologists check patients' vital signs and prepare them for surgery, as well as check charts and help the surgical team gear up in their sterile gloves and gowns. During the procedure, technologists issue instruments as instructed by the surgeons and assist in operating diagnostic equipment.
