Massage therapy schools in Michigan offer two year training programs that prepare students for employment as a massage therapist. The program is an intense two years of study that typically leads to an associate’s degree. Massage courses required of the major include kinesiology, anatomy and physiology, some beginning biology classes, intro to massage, Swedish massage, and Shiatsu. There are a number of other courses that may also be required of the massage therapy program depending on the school. Most Michigan schools require standard massage courses although electives may be chosen. The job outlook is promising for graduates of the program due to the increased aging population and number of sports-related injuries.
