Massage therapy schools in Pennsylvania offer students postsecondary massage programs that enable them to become licensed massage therapists in a short amount of time. Most programs can be completed in less than one year and average approximately 500 study and hands-on experience hours. The learning environment is fast paced and requires practical experience. Students are expected to spend hours inside and outside of the classroom practicing massage. Licensing laws vary greatly between states so it’s important for students to be aware of local laws and regulations. Most therapists are required to pass a licensing exam.
