Physical Therapist Assistant: Associate of Applied Science
The Physical Therapist Assistant associate level scheme is conceived to give the graduate the fundamental know-how needed to enter into an entry level employment position as a physical therapist assistant. The purpose of this program is to get a student ready to perform physical therapy treatments, under the supervision of a physical therapist, to people who lost functional abilities due to an injury, disease or illness. Emphasis is being placed on the development of solid knowledge in physical therapy that includes physical agents, therapeutic exercise, manual techniques and functional training.
Services designed to improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease are the types of assistance physical therapist assistants provide. Treatment processes involve massages, exercises, ultrasound and traction, as well as hot and cold packs. 100 credit hours of study are required to complete the program.
- Classes are offered that teach important techniques regularly used in clinics. You will learn how to take vital signs, bandage injuries, manipulate the patient's body during treatment, along with being educated in universal precautions and how to keep your workplace clean.
- You will learn the assessment skills a physical therapist must possess in order to evaluate patients' progress.

Occupational Therapy Assistant: Associate of Applied Science
The Occupational Therapy Assistant associate degree program gives the student all the skills necessary to acheive an entry-level job as an occupational therapy assistant. Upon receipt of the Occupational Therapy Assistant associate degree, graduates will be capable of passing the Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants, a test administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Occupational Therapy courses comprise basic sequences which combine classroom lectures, laboratory and experiences in-clinic, and in the process, versatility and effectiveness of student in the occupational therapy career is supplemented by general education.
Occupational therapy assistants specialize in therapeutic treatment, under the guidance of occupational therapist, to patients who are missing out on their full lifestyle, due to illness, injury or disease. They assist clients with rehabilitative services and physical activities described in a treatment plan. A person's activities may be monitored by assistants to make sure they are performed correctly. An occupational therapy assitant's job may also be to give encouragement, as well as keeping records and finances straight. There are 100 credit hours involved in this program. Courses are offered to students on:
- The whole system of the human body as constructed of cells, tissues, organ systems, senses and disease mechanisms
- Kinetics and kinematics. Procedures that an occupational therapy assistant must carry out to monitor a patients progress, with an emphasis on the assessment. We look at every part of the body to learn about relevant functional activities.
- Diseases and problems with the body. The treatment of job related performance is stressed, along with making documentation of the patient's progression to the expected outcomes.
