New England Institute of Technology

As an Occupation Therapist you will be assisting people who have disabilities in becoming healthy enough to be on their own. Collecting data needed for patient evaluation, carrying out treatment plans, using technology to help people overcome disabilities, and designing activities to help people reach their goals is all part of learning to become a part of our rehabilitation team. When in the field, the OTA works along with a registered Occupational Therapist and carries out his or her own work with single clients or groups.

While enrolled in our program, you will work beside faculty who are nationally recognized while in a helpful and entertaining environment. Work can be found in any setting where people of all ages must learn different ways to live productively, in addition to the traditional medical environment. Once you have completed your course and field work, you are eligible to take the federal exam for becoming a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Our Occupational Therapy Assistant Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The address for AOTA is 4720 Montgomery Lane, PO Box 31220, Bethesda, MD 20824-1220. To reach AOTA by phone, dial (301) 652-AOTA. With a 94% pass rate, the total number of graduates who passed the certification exam as first-time new graduate test takers in 2004-2006 was 47 out of 50. The program had 69 graduates during that 3-year period.
