Ultrasound technology is a non-invasive medical treatment that can be used to diagnose and discover medical issues. Most ultrasound technician schools award two-year associate’s degrees upon completion. Common courses within the major include acoustical principles, pathophysiology, echocardiography, vascular technology, patient care techniques, and gynecological sonography. Most programs have a competitive admissions process based upon grade point average and completion of prerequisite courses such as anatomy and physiology, chemistry, cell biology, medical terminology, and physics.
