Nursing Schools in District of Columbia
Nursing schools in District of Columbia offer two-year and four-year postsecondary training programs in nursing. Depending on the length of study, graduates can receive associate’s or bachelor’s degrees in nursing, and opt to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a licensed registered nurse (RN). Graduates of the program perform routine patient care in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, senior living facilities, and schools. The nursing profession is one of the fastest growing careers due to the increased number of retirees and increased demand for medical services among various populations. The projected growth in the field is expected to increase over 20% during the next seven to ten years.
