Pittsburgh Technical Institute
Your instruction will be hands-on and project oriented. The curriculum is decided by what is needed by the average employer. The program was created to give students the skills, the strength, and confidence to rise to the top of their field.
Students are provided a selection among attractive alternatives at PTI.
- There are both day and night programs.
- We offer both two-year Associates Degrees and Certificate Degrees that take less than two years to complete.
- Degrees can be earned either with a program completed exclusively on-site at the campus, or through a combination on-site and on-line program.
- North Fayette Campus and PTI-Cranberry at the Regional Learning Alliance locations.
- There is a daytime environment as well as an evening Center for Certification and Adult Learning.
Student Housing
PTI's student housing is home to students from many different hometowns, states, and time zones. It can be unsettling, at least at first, to consider leaving the comfort of your own home to attend school in a distant city. Then students meet their roommates, get to know their neighbors, and spend additional time with the people in their classes. Living in student housing isn't as bad as it used to be. In reality, it's a joy to be independent in your own apartment and meeting new acquaintances.
Housing Options
Here are the options you will have as a PTI student:
You may live in off-campus student apartments through the Off-Campus Housing program; private apartments are available nearby. You may choose on-campus student apartments. This exciting new option becomes available in 2009!
There are three main categories of financial aid.
- Grants: An amount of money to fund your education that does not need to be paid back. In essence, a grant is your tax dollars being put to work for your benefit.
- Scholarships: These are monetary gifts which do not have to be paid back. Scholarships generally recognize an outstanding accomplishment, service to the community or other personal hobby or membership.
- Loans: A loan is the portion of a financial aid package that must be repaid. A loan is money given to you by an institution to help pay for your education.
