Psychology schools in District of Columbia offer training programs that prepare students for employment in the psychology field. Some community colleges in the District of Columbia offer associate’s degrees in psychology while four year colleges and universities offer bachelor’s degree programs. A standard associate’s degree takes approximately two years to complete whereas a bachelor’s degree requires four years to complete. In order to apply for graduate school in psychology a bachelor’s degree is required. Foundational psychology classes required include general psychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, cognitive psychology, and social psychology. Numerous electives may be taken in accordance with the declared major of psychology.
