AAS, Veterinary Technology

Argosy University conducts a program called Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Veterinary Technology. This curricular offering is devoted to bringing about excellent, entry-level veterinary technicians imbued with the nursing, technical, critical thinking and community skills needed to perform effectively in the veterinary community.

Veterinary technicians provide all types of care to different types of animals like companions (dogs and cats), farm animals and exotic animals. While serving the healthcare needs of all types of animals, Veterinary technicians may choose to specialize or participate in a general practice.

Sixty-nine credit hours of study will be included in the program. Students are required to complete 21 credit hours in General Education, in addition to the program-specific courses, to fulfill the requirements of an AAS degree. A full time student adhering to the recommended course outline can fulfill the program requirements in 21 months. To accommodate full-time students who need more time, students can utilize up to 30 months to finish their coursework for this program, but no more than 30 months.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Veterinary Technology Program at AAA, Students must have successfully completed a program of secondary education or equivalent (GED).

The entrance requirements are the following:

  • ACT composite score 18 or above
  • Combined Math and Verbal SAT score 850 or above
  • Pass Argosy University Entrance Exam
  • A minimum written TOEFLŪ score of 500 (paper version), 173 (computer version), or 61 (Internet version) also required for any applicant whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution where English is not the language used.
