Veterinary Assisting

If you want to gain a scientific understanding of animal care and you are interested in the health and welfare of dogs, cats, horses and other creatures, Veterinary Assisting is the course for you. We teach students how to assist in emergency care and physical exams, perform lab tests, prevent and treat common diseases and disorders, administer medications, nurse orphaned and wild animals and more.

Tuition includes textbook and study material costs.

To complete the program for Veterinary Assistant, you must take 22 in-depth lessons. While these courses are challenging and interesting, they are not difficult to follow. Every lesson starts with a topic preview and objectives, an introduction from your faculty and a vocabulary builder for acquiring complete knowledge of terminology including new words and terms.

This is followed by the reading assignment. Applied exercises allow you to go back and review what you were taught. An open-book test is included at the end of the lesson, which you may take online.

Animal care specialists participate in a wide range of duties in veterinary clinics, such as admitting sick and injured animals for treatment; giving first aid; keeping record of critical signs; nursing surgical patients; coordinating boarding schedules; tracking and ordering supplies and lots more.
