Veterinary Technology Program

The Veterinary Technology program at Western School of Health and Business Careers, Pittsburgh (WSHBC) is formulated to impart technical and practical training to students who wish to become veterinary technicians, providing efficient and empathetic care to animals. There is a lecture component and a laboratory component structured into the core curriculum. The final externship consists of supervised hands-on experience working in a clinical environment. At the end of this program, graduates who have applied themselves by studying and practicing what they have learned should be able to find a entry-level job as a technician in the veterinary field.

WSHBC's Veterinary Technology program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). This implies that successful graduates of the program are qualified to apply to the Pennsylvania Medical Veterinary Board for registration to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) and the State Board examination. WSHBC has no control over the requirements for taking and passing the State Board examination or the VTNE, both of which are subject to change without notice. For this reason, WSHBC cannot assure that graduates will be qualified to appear for the VTNE or State Board examination, at all or at any specific time, irrespective of their eligibility status after admission. WSHBC is not the controlling authority for the state registration for veterinary technicians in Pennsylvania or in any other state. WSHBC cannot make any promises that people who graduate will qualify for a job as veterinary technician in the state of Pennsylvania or anywhere else, at any certain time, whether or not they were eligible at the time they signed up.
